Noor Posted 8 May , 2019 Share Posted 8 May , 2019 Hi all, I am currently researching Colonel John Archibald Hamilton's medal entitlment. My main puzzle is how many times he was MID, was he MID after 1919 as well for Waziristan, Kurdistan or Iraq. Also did he had any other foreign awards. I know he served in India Medical Services from 1895 until 1922. He was awarded: - CMG - China 1900 "Relief of Pekin" clasp - 1914 star (Indian corps in France Oct 1914-Dec 1915) - British War Medal - Victory Medal (MID 1-1-16, 5-1-19, 12-2-20(?), 21-5-20 (?)) - GSM "Iraq & Kurdistan" - India General Service Medal "Waziristan 1919-21" - US Military Order of the Dragon 1900-1911 My main puzzle is his MID that he received. Also was he entitled anything else. His obituary was interesting, donating some items to the museum and also his medals to his old school (oddly enough they didn't stay there). Thanking you in advance.

HarryBrook Posted 8 May , 2019 Share Posted 8 May , 2019 (edited) He was made a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George (c.M.G.) January 1916 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/29438/supplement/566 He was three times mentioned in despatches, the first as Mark's posts #2 and 3 above. The other two were for first, Mesopotamia, and second, for Operations in Southern and Central Kurdistan. Click back to the first page of the respective gazettes for details of General Officer Commanding and date of the despatch:- https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/31386/page/7247 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/31777/supplement/1805 Edit to add: No apparent other Foreign awards. I must look into the GSM entitlment. Interesting that these roles don't list his CMG.
