thetrenchrat22 Posted 22 April , 2019 Share Posted 22 April , 2019 I’m trying to locate the positions of the 4th East Yorkshire Regiment on the 10th April 1918. The war diary in the place section for 9th April shows Trou Bayard 5 I 95 78 and 5 J 10 98 im having trouble locating it. It mentions that they fell back to a position on the road from Estaires to Croix Du Bac. there is a cemetery at Croix Du Bac which is at map reference 36. G. 12. d. 6. 2. Estaires Communal Cemetery and Extension is at 36. G. 25. b. 0. 2. In between of the two is a little Village Le Trou Bayard is this the Trou Bayard at 5 I 95 78 and 5 J 10 98 does anybody have a copy of Hazebrouck 5A Alan
laughton Posted 22 April , 2019 Share Posted 22 April , 2019 Alan: Go to this folder: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/pfn9nc1eivjjn/Fleurbaix_Edition_7A_36.NW3 If you have not done this before, there is a READ ME file with the maps. If you do not have the ER Viewer program, you can find it here as well: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/2o53563qex0pq/ER_Trench_Map_Viewer The maps are large files (this one is 122 MB), so you need a good internet connection! The map will open and then you can move it around and increase the size, etc. You need to get familiar with using the viewer to make all this work. See the HELP tab in the viewer. I don't know what the strange numbers are that you have in your post - 5 I 95 78 and 5 J 10 98? Richard

thetrenchrat22 Posted 23 April , 2019 Author Share Posted 23 April , 2019 Thank you for your replies i now have copies of the maps and they take me to exactly where the Battalion war diary says they were on the 10th April 1918. But the references mentioned above, I don’t see them on the maps. So what they are I don’t know. Alan
