303man Posted 17 April , 2019 Share Posted 17 April , 2019 I have a memorial Plaque to Alfred William Gorrett, I am drawing a blank, the closest I could find is Alfred Walter Gorrett Royal Engineers but he looks like a survivor of the Great War? Draw a blank on CWGC with any Gorrett, Any help is appreciated.
Admin DavidOwen Posted 17 April , 2019 Admin Share Posted 17 April , 2019 Could it be a miss-spelling of Alfred William GARRETT? https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/930496/garrett,-alfred-william/
303man Posted 17 April , 2019 Author Share Posted 17 April , 2019 I think that is the most plausible answer. Many plaques had mistakes and it looks like he had no other relatives other than an aunt, who in all likelihood may not have challenged a mistake on the plaque?
