Charles Chalmers Mitchell, RMLI, PLY/9196 was lost with HMS Monmouth.

I have asked for help deciphering his record before.

I have feeling that I may have asked this before.

Can anyone decipher what his employment was from 7 February 1914? (He was ashore in Plymouth until 12 July.)

Thank you.

Thanks Jane,

I hadn't thought about a "W". I had got the Divisional Police.

Does whatever it is go with the Divisional Police or was it something that he did after that.

Whatever it was, it was interrupted by the practice mobilization and he didn't get back to it. (See my other posts on Charles Chalmers Mitchell.)

I really can't tell if - Works goes with Divl Police or not, I'm afraid.

Thanks Jane,

It's a minor point.

It's interesting even when you get a lot of information, you want to pursue every detail. I already have a long timeline for Pte Charles C Mitchell and I haven't got anything in about HMS Monmouth yet. The timeline for the average soldier I am researching is about a third of the length for lack of material.
