Peter Bennett Posted 25 March , 2019 Share Posted 25 March , 2019 I am assuming that this man was a prisoner of war and died in a German Hospital in or near to Tourcoing. His Soldiers Effects is undecipherable in the section regarding place of death, there are abbreviations which I do not understand. I also checked the Red Cross POW Archives but cannot find him in there. Any assistance greatly appreciated Thank you Private BROWN, H Service Number 204695 Died 09/07/1918 Aged 19 1st Bn.Royal Scots Fusiliers Only son of Mrs. Jennie Gostellow, of 10, Ernest St., Dewsbury. Buried at TOURCOING (PONT-NEUVILLE) COMMUNAL CEMETERY Location: Nord, France Number of casualties: 179 Cemetery/memorial reference: E. 9.
charlie2 Posted 25 March , 2019 Share Posted 25 March , 2019 (edited) He has two RC cards https://grandeguerre.icrc.org/en/File/Details/2350163/3/2/ https://grandeguerre.icrc.org/en/File/Details/2545203/3/2/ I think Soldiers effects records „War Hospital Bavarian (Sanitary) Section 64“ its a bit garbled for sure. Could the next bit be short for Municipal Hospital? Charlie Edited 25 March , 2019 by charlie2
