SOUTH ALLOA. UNVEILING WAR MEMORIAL. - On Saturday last a memorial to the memory of twelve men of South Alloa who fell in the war was unveiled. The memoiial which is in the form,of a tablet affixed to the outer wall of the school is composed of black and white marble. The design which is plain, is relieved the ornamentation of a sheathed sword and a laurel wreath and above the tablet is a simple white marble cross on a background of black marble. At the. ceremony, which was well attended, the chair was occupied by Mr James Finlayson, Alloa. Prayer was offered by the Rev. Frederic Hendry, Airth, and an inspiring address was delivered by the Rev. John Fairley, Larbert. The memorial was unveiled by Mrs Laing, Kersie Schoolhouse, and a band of pipers under Mr John Anderson, Dunmore, played "The Flowers of the Forest.”

SOUTH ALLOA MEMORIAL. — On Sunday last a memorial plaque In memory of the men from South Alloa who gave their lives in the Second World War was unveiled at Kersie Public School. A short service of dedication, including a reading from the book of Revelations, chapter 21, and the singing of the first and last verses of “O God Our Help in Ages Past” was conducted by the Rev. T. Donaldson, Airth North Church. The unveiling ceremony was performed by Mrs M’Millan, 22 Kersie Terrace. Among those present at the ceremony was Mr Leeson, School Convener, Airth. deputising in the unavoidable absence of Councillor F. Crawford. The sculptors responsible for the design and erection of the plaque were Messrs N. D. Robertson & Sons, Graham’s Road, Falkirk.
