Steve1871 Posted 12 March , 2019 Share Posted 12 March , 2019 I collect a lot of stuff for the M71 rifle, it's bayonets and other related, which were pressed into service in Great War in the beginning. The original Cartridge cases/ pouches were usually stamped inside of the lid in ink with unit markings, I do not think the markings went down to the weapon number like rifle and bayonets, from the original M74 to, I forget the main model year? M80? Or the smaller M85 NCO, I have many of these, have noticed that Wurttenberg, being different would Press Stamp their unit markings on the outside rear, visible just under the lid when closed. Does anybody have more info on these unit markings? We're they stamped when issued in Great War or earlier.?I know if 4 types for the original 11.15x60r ammo, is there a website, I never found that helps? trajan Posted 13 March , 2019 Share Posted 13 March , 2019 Only thing I can help with is simply that all equipment used by men on active duty was supposed to be marked in peacetime, but not in war time. The marking regulations are quite specific on this.
