PrussianGarde Posted 8 March , 2019 Share Posted 8 March , 2019 Thought about buying this but I don’t know if it’s a fake. What do you think?

mark holden Posted 8 March , 2019 Share Posted 8 March , 2019 Your pictures are not great but I am not convinced that the EKI you show is original. The detail of the 'W'is poor as is the number '4' of 1914. The catch and hinge are also quite crude.
depaor01 Posted 8 March , 2019 Share Posted 8 March , 2019 Better pics would definitely help to check the beading at the edge. With a magnifier you should see the black part is separate from the silver outer. If not then alarm bells. Dave
Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 9 March , 2019 Share Posted 9 March , 2019 Dear PrussianGarde, I spontaneously made scans of the obverse and reverse of one of three EKIs in my possession. As you can see, the detail is obviously far finer than the one you have fielded - prompting one to warn you about Fakes that abound... Kindest regards, Kim. PrussianGarde Posted 9 March , 2019 Author Share Posted 9 March , 2019 Yeah. I thought this was fake. The guy took terrible pictures so that was all I could send, thank god i didn’t bid on it. How about this one? Also has bad pictures unfortunately.
PrussianGarde Posted 9 March , 2019 Author Share Posted 9 March , 2019 (edited) It also has the KW marking and is an EK2 Edited 9 March , 2019 by PrussianGarde
mark holden Posted 9 March , 2019 Share Posted 9 March , 2019 Despite the poor pictures this looks to be an original WW1 EK2 but I would ask for better pictures before bidding.

Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 9 March , 2019 Share Posted 9 March , 2019 Dear PrussianGarde, Compare the EKII offered, to two examples of several in my collection. One cannot be dogmatic, but I again urge caution. Kindest regards, Kim.
depaor01 Posted 9 March , 2019 Share Posted 9 March , 2019 My gut feeling is that the finish on your later post looks good. Neither matt nor gloss but in between. I would take a punt on it. But buyer beware etc. etc... Dave
