horatio2 Posted 22 February , 2019 Share Posted 22 February , 2019 (edited) Wales Division RNVR was the odd one out because it did not exist pre-WW1 (as evidenced by the Navy List entries). The fact that, unlike the other six RNVR Divisions, there were no pre-war Wales Division Companies confirms this. Wartime recruiting of Wales Z/**** ratings began five months after the outbreak of WW1 and it is pretty clear that a properly officered RNVR Wales Training HQ was never established as other than a recruiting office. Wales was one of two "War Fleet" Divisions established around this time, the other being at Crystal Palace. Similarly, the RNVR Anti-Aircraft (AA), Motor Boat (MB) and Mine Clearance (MC) divisions had no fixed HQ..
