FredJCarss Posted 23 January , 2005 Share Posted 23 January , 2005 Pals I am interested in Captain Alfred John Coad (Orient Line) He was Captain of the Orsova which was employed as a troopship of 12036 tons It was torpedoed inthe port side of the engine room in March 1917 just off the Eddystone Light. Capt Coad managed to beach her in Cawsand Bay inside the Plymouth Sound. Orsova was refloted and towed to Devonport for repair. Does anyone know of any pictures off this incident? Does anyone have a picture of Capt Coad? Does anyone know where he is buried? His home address was in Bude. I know all his ships and have I have been hunting on and off since 1986 on this guy and would be grateful for any help. Fred
Michael Lowrey Posted 23 January , 2005 Share Posted 23 January , 2005 Fred, We discussed the Orsova recently: http://1914-1918.org/forum/index.php?showt...17122&hl=orsova Note in particular that German sources have her as mined, nit torpedoed. Sorry, nothing about Captain Coad. Best wishes, Michael
