eisenbahn.tv Posted 20 February , 2019 Share Posted 20 February , 2019 Hello, got this picture last weekend. Seller thinks: Airport Nisch or Belgrad. Definitely not a airport - the planes flying. Anyone a idea what's shown? Regards Gabriel
Gardenerbill Posted 21 February , 2019 Share Posted 21 February , 2019 Hi Gabriel, They could be Serbian air force but the roundel is not clear enough to be certain. Here is a lik to images of the Serbian roundel: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&biw=1366&bih=632&tbm=isch&sa=1&ei=-YNuXKmbPOyD1fAPzIKSyAI&q=serbian+air+force+roundel+ww1&oq=serbian+air+force+roundel+ww1&gs_l=img.3...6554.7846..8256...0.0..0.62.227.4......0....1..gws-wiz-img.MtD7kjD8GVs
apwright Posted 21 February , 2019 Share Posted 21 February , 2019 The roundel in the photo wasn't used during the war. The link below suggests it was used from 1918, but other sources say it was introduced in 1923. I think the aircraft are Breguet 19s of the Royal Yugoslav Air Force, somewhere between 1925 (when they received the Breguets) and 1929 (when the red ring was added to the roundel). No idea what city it is! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Yugoslav_Army_Air_Force#Markings Adrian
