mikereme Posted 6 February , 2019 Share Posted 6 February , 2019 (edited) Hello Everyone, I am aware there that were Machine Gun Companies [when the MGC was formed],in 1918 these companies where put into Battalions...my question how many Machine Gun Battalions were there in the British Army by the end of WW1. If this question has already been asked please accept my apologies.....Once again I thank you in anticipation Edited 6 February , 2019 by mikereme
Ron Clifton Posted 6 February , 2019 Share Posted 6 February , 2019 Hello Mike The BEF in France had one MG battalion per division (61) plus eight independent battalions (converted from Yeomanry and Household Cavalry). There were at least five with divisions in Egypt, and at least two with divisions in Mesopotamia. There may have been others with divisions in other theatres but there are no surviving War Diaries for them. Ron
