Marilyne Posted 5 February , 2019 Share Posted 5 February , 2019 Good morning all, my sister stumbled upon this picture and was wondering the time and which uniform. The weapon looks like a Mauser according to the Boyfriend, which indicates Germany; the camouflage of the helmet also, but I'd like your advise to be sure because as we can't see the bolt of the weapon, it might be something else. And I'm not familiar with the shape of the helmet. What is sure is that the guy is cheating: he put modern stirrups on an turn of the century saddle... OK... we do the same at the St Georges parare! And also sure: horse is gorgeous and overjumping ... but Nath found a great pic there! Thanks for your help, Marilyne
GreyC Posted 5 February , 2019 Share Posted 5 February , 2019 (edited) Hi. this is supposed to be a German Ulan in fieldgrey during or shortly before WW1. The hat gives it away. The cockade seems to be blue(?) that would make him Bavarian. As neither Bavaria nor Ulanen are a focus of my collection here a Prussian Ulan (officer). GreyC Posted 5 February , 2019 Share Posted 5 February , 2019 (edited) Hi, could well be green, now that you are mentioning it. If so it is 17th, 18th or 21st Ulanen-Regiment. GreyC Edited 7 February , 2019 by GreyC
