Raster Scanning Posted 1 June , 2003 Share Posted 1 June , 2003 Pte. 41357. Hemsley E. "C" Coy. is listed as being wounded (self inflicted) in the 7th Beds Battalion Orders dated 18/1/18. He survived his wound and is listed on the MIC as transferring to 25-TRB, he has a new service number of 9-10217. Does anyone have any idea what 25-TRB was? I am guessing at Training Reserve Battalion?? John.

Terry_Reeves Posted 1 June , 2003 Share Posted 1 June , 2003 John 25th Training Reserve Bn was formed on 1 Sept 1916 from 10th (Reserve) Bn Norfolk Regt. It was later renumbered 219 Graduated Bn and on 27 October 1917 became 51st Graduated Bn linked to the Bedfordshire Regt. I Feb 1918 it became part of the 193rd Brigade, 64 Div at Norwich. The unit never left the UK. Terry Reeves
Raster Scanning Posted 1 June , 2003 Author Share Posted 1 June , 2003 Thanks Terry that makes sense, as he was in the Bedford's already. I am doing some research to see if he was unfit to serve overseas because of the wound or because of how he got it! Seem rather unfair that some people were shot for less. I am sure there is more to this, as another man is listed as being accidentally wounded at the same time. I will check to see if Hemsley's papers have survived when I can. John.
