seaJane Posted 22 January , 2019 Share Posted 22 January , 2019 (edited) I have been sent an image which includes portraits of the following:- HAMPSHIRE Fleet Surgeon RG Williams Lieutenant Eric V Grey Lieutenant Vincent G Snow Lieut-Com Francis G Stewart Lieut William W Skynner Jutland Capt Arthur L Cay, INVINCIBLE Rev HD Dixon-Wright, died of wounds [BARHAM] Lieut AP McMullen, INVINCIBLE Mid Peregrine Dearden, QUEEN MARY Surg John MacCormac, BLACK PRINCE Lieut WJW Fletcher, BLACK PRINCE Com AT Johnstone, DEFENCE Asst Clerk J Kneel, DEFENCE The central image is a view from above of "a drifter with six wounded sailors waiting to be swung on board the hospital ship." Edit: just had a look round for Mid Peregrine Dearden, out of interest, and he survived to be taken prisoner. Story here https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/fwd-new-jutland-dearden-56btcrbp9 but unfortunately behind a paywall. There's a slightly more advert-ridden version in the New Zealand Herald https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11658589 (he was born in Canterbury, NZ). keithmroberts Posted 22 January , 2019 Share Posted 22 January , 2019 I would be interested in an image showing Rev Dixon-Wright as there is at least one of his letters, possibly 2 or 3 transcibed in the notebooks that I am working on from Balliol. keithmroberts Posted 22 January , 2019 Share Posted 22 January , 2019 Thanks Jane, probably not, he is fairly marginal to the final stages of the man's naval service, but I'm sure he is there.
