Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 19 January , 2019 Share Posted 19 January , 2019 A friend on clearing out his workshop kindly donated all his unrequired scrap metal including this brass shell case, for forwarding to my non -ferrous commodities broker. There are no identifying marks on the base, I suspect it is later than Great War era, but I would appreciate any advice in identifying its origin. Dimensions: Length of case - 277mm Diameter of rim of base - 86.5mm Diameter of case adjacent to rim - 80mm Diameter of case at open end - 78mm Primer appears to have been fired. Thanks GWF, but no, there's nothing stamped on the base. The only thing visible is patterns of corrosion - blue black from the copper content. It's smooth like a mirror.
