BillyH Posted 16 January , 2019 Share Posted 16 January , 2019 I'll probably kick myself when I hear the answer, but I presume that this is a 'R Wound' - but what is the R for? BillyH.

charlie2 Posted 16 January , 2019 Share Posted 16 January , 2019 It could well be Ring Worm.
GreyC Posted 16 January , 2019 Share Posted 16 January , 2019 Sounds interesting, but it is spelled in one word. Which, of course, not necessarily excludes it. GreyC
clk Posted 16 January , 2019 Share Posted 16 January , 2019 Hi BillyH, If, rather than being from a service record. it's from a MH 106 record, are there any clues from surrounding entries? Can you post a link? Regards Chris
BillyH Posted 17 January , 2019 Author Share Posted 17 January , 2019 10 hours ago, clk said: If, rather than being from a service record. it's from a MH 106 record . . . . . Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, (the clip in post #1 is from his service papers), but I have now solved the problem. The clip was actually dated 10.8.17 (see first image below). On another (barely decipherable) sheet of his service papers it is mentioned again. I have enhanced this as best as possible and it appears to say "admitted 11th G.H Dannes Camiers 12/8 GSW Left Arm . . . . . " So presumably the RW was for rifle wound. BillyH. Bardess Posted 17 January , 2019 Share Posted 17 January , 2019 It could also be a clerk who couldn't decipher what was written in his notes and took a B for an R? B[ullet] W[ound]
