Sgt Stripes Posted 11 January , 2019 Share Posted 11 January , 2019 (edited) Hello. I am looking for information into awards made to any men or women , who were onboard HMT TRANSYLVANIA when she was lost on May 4 1917. I believe Major Thomas Hubert Barclay Surrey Yeomanry, was posthumously award the silver board of trade medal for gallantry in saving life at sea and I also believe that Trooper J W Magnusson was posthumously was awarded the Albert medal . Many Thanks Edited 11 January , 2019 by Sgt Stripes

sotonmate Posted 18 January , 2019 Share Posted 18 January , 2019 SS Somewhere I have a note of Enquiries into sinkings such as this but can't find the Kew series which has a file for each loss. These often have detail of any awards. I shall make time to go through my many notebooks and find a ref to start from, it must have been at least 5 years ago that I first found this series. sotonmate Posted 23 January , 2019 Share Posted 23 January , 2019 SS Best I can do as there is just a series of documents in the file for losses in May 1917. The only way is to see the file at Kew and read it ! https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C4115704
