"Gedenkt de gesneuvelde Helden van Cappellen 1914 1918" "Heldenlijst van Cappellen" "Sneuvelden nog voor't Vaderland" The postcard has photographic portraits of soldiers and on the reverse what I assume is a roll of honour listing names, places and dates. "Gedenkt de gesneuvelde Helden van Cappellen 1914 1918" Remember the fallen heroes of Cappellen 1914 1918 "Heldenlijst van Cappellen" Cappellen's list of heroes "Sneuvelden nog voor't Vaderland" I am not sure if "nog" should be in there, as it will now translate as "[They] still died for the fatherland" (instead of "fatherland", "country" may be more appropriate) If "nog" is omitted, it would translate as "[They] died for their fatherland" This latter seems more obvious for such a postcard. Bob, Cappellen is Belgium Cappellen = now Kapellen there are two Kapellen : Kapellen (in Flemish-Brabant) postcode 3381. Kapellen postcode: 2950 (province of Antwerp There is also a Kapelle-op-den-Bos postcode: 1880 The Netherlands were not in involved in the war. If on the 3th card the names are not the same as on the first card then the translation should be : (They) Died also for their country,fatherland... I thought there was one list, then "nog" looks a bit silly in my opinion.
