Dombyrne Posted 21 December , 2018 Share Posted 21 December , 2018 TJ, my great Uncle was also in 9RMF - it was the Cork Battalion. Saw active service between 19th Dec 1915 and end of May 1916 when it was split up and sent to 8RMF, 1RMF and 2RMF. The National Army Museum in Chelsea, London has the original muster roll book of the battalion and you can find out from this what company he was in and track where that company was on the day of your G Grandfathers death. There's also an excellent history of the regiment by Martin Staunton written in 1986 as a thesis. I've done a fair bit of research into my Great Uncle but nebver found any pictures of 9th Battalion - yet!
