horatio2 Posted 10 December , 2018 Share Posted 10 December , 2018 (edited) 1st Reserve Battalion RND did not form until after the division had left for Gallipoli. It does not appear to have formed by mid-March 1915 but is confirmed at Blandford Camp from at latest mid-June. The battalion's first CO was appointed to the RND in mid- March 1915 so that is probably the formation date. The battalion remained at Blandford Camp throughout the Gallipoli campaign. Later in the war 1st Res, Bn. was re-named 'A' Res. Bn. and remained naval, while 1st Res. Marine Bn. took the number.
