This is another in the series...is he also Lincolnshire Yeomanry? Or as has been claimed Suffolks?1583208548_Lincolshire.jpg.79786da2b243ad3e4f73d069ca3844e7.jpg

I'll second that and add dressed for mounted duties, also there appears to be a lot of brass on his shoulder, possible TF

I concur Essex Regiment too.  He's wearing a simplified jacket (whose extra deep chest pockets show very clearly here) and a 1905 pattern SD cap, so it's very likely early on in the war.

Thank you for that.

Not certain where that puts him!

Will re-group and post additional info

Following on. He is supposed to be Henry Butcher

Service No: 18439
Age: 20
Regiment/Service: East Yorkshire Regiment, 1st/4th Bn

died 1918 as POW

If the uniform is Essex it's not Henry...must ask about certainty of uniform ident I'm afraid to say.

Apologies!

George

Definitely not an East Yorkshire cap badge, Henry’s entry in SDGW shows a previous number of 19758 Yorkshire Rgt, it’s not their cap badge either. Victory and BWM rolls add 1st and 12th Bns East Yorkshire Rgt. Service papers mention no connection to Essex Rgt and I’ll stand by that being and Essex Rgt badge in the above image
