CWGC added the following casualties to the WW1 War Dead Roll today.

 

DOWNER, George Henry

Company Serjeant Major  278074

Royal Garrison Artillery

Died 24.02.19  Age 60

Commemorated: United Kingdom Book of Remembrance

 

 

McKAY, Waldon

Private  525051

Canadian Army Medical Corps

Died 25.06.19  Age 35

Buried: Cranbrook Old General Cemetery, Alberta, Canada

 

MOSSOP, William John

Driver  67236

Royal Field Artillery

Died 22.03.19  Age 31

Commemorated: United Kingdom Book of Remembrance

 

 

NOT FORGOTTEN

 

Two of the above were In From the Cold Project cases.

-          CSM Downer died post-discharge of bladder cancer (Volunteer: Steve John)

-          Dvr Mossop died post-discharge of tuberculosis (Volunteer: Steve Young)

Hi,

 

Thanks for your endeavours for Driver Mossop:poppy:

 

Fingers crossed its not too long until a headstone is erected above his final resting place in Westnewton, Cumbria.

 

I came across his name while searching Ancestry on a free weekend in 2017. He is buried a couple of miles inland from my holiday caravan site on the West Cumberland coast.
