Remembered Today:

Silver War Badge

Hi

I have just been given the option of purchasing my Great-uncle's war medals (1914 star, Victory and BMW).

They are inscribed as usual.

The only thing that isn't there and I don't know where it is, is the Silver War Badge which he was awarded as he was wounded and discharged.

My question is, would the Silver War Badge still be inscribed with the recipient's details?

So if I obtained a replacement would I need to make sure it's inscribed?

Thanks

Darin.

Hi Darin, it isn't named but has a serial number on the reverse which can be traced back to the relevant soldier via SWB rolls.

Better start digging out that badge then!

If you leave the details punched into the rims of his medals, I will see if I can find you the number that will be on the back of his SWB.
