Repulse II Posted 13 November , 2018 Share Posted 13 November , 2018 Hey all. I hope this is in the right place. According to the Dover Express, Driver S W Gibbens 1st Kent Battery, RFA wrote a poem called "A sick soldier's call to arms", the sale of copies of which went to home front hospitals (Dover at least) to provide strawberries and cigarettes for their patients. I wondered if anyone knows the poem, I can't find a copy anywhere. Thanks.
Uncle George Posted 14 November , 2018 Share Posted 14 November , 2018 (edited) Hi How do we know that Driver Gibbens served with the 1st Kent Battery? We have an address for him - is he in the 1911 census? I've had a quick look at Medal Index Cards but can't seem to find him. EDIT: P.S. - I meant to say, welcome to the Forum! Repulse II Posted 14 November , 2018 Author Share Posted 14 November , 2018 Thanks for the feedback, all. I'll follow those leads... will see if the IWM have anything in their archive. Pieces of printed paper are so temporary, aren't they.
