Remembered Today:

Driver Gibben's Poem 1915 "A sick soldier's call to arms"

Hey all.

I hope this is in the right place.

According to the Dover Express, Driver S W Gibbens 1st Kent Battery, RFA wrote a poem called "A sick soldier's call to arms", the sale of copies of which went to home front hospitals (Dover at least) to provide strawberries and cigarettes for their patients.  I wondered if anyone knows the poem, I can't find a copy anywhere.

Thanks.

Hi

How do we know that Driver Gibbens served with the 1st Kent Battery? We have an address for him - is he in the 1911 census? I've had a quick look at  Medal Index Cards but can't seem to find him.

EDIT:

P.S. - I meant to say,  welcome to the Forum!

Thanks for the feedback, all.

I'll follow those leads... will see if the IWM have anything in their archive.  Pieces of printed paper are so temporary, aren't they.
