mickey selcon Posted 6 November , 2018 Share Posted 6 November , 2018 Hi I wonder of anyone has any information on the precise location of Culloden or Byng Camps which I believe were close to Poperinghe? Thank you Mike
IanA Posted 11 November , 2018 Share Posted 11 November , 2018 No luck, I'm afraid, but wondered whether you'd seen the sketch of Culloden Camp - https://www.warmuseum.ca/collections/artifact/1021417/?q=evenement%3A1915+Seconde+bataille+dYpres&page_num=2&item_num=29&media_irn=18825&media=all
bartensabien Posted 26 January , 2019 Share Posted 26 January , 2019 this may be a hint: From the WarDairy 2nd Royal Irish Rifles, (107th Brigade, 36th Div) 28Sept1918 : ...arrived at "P" and "X" Camp...at 5pm the battalion entrained at BYNG SIDING in "P" camp area and proceeded to Hell Fire Corner. From the WD of the 107th Brigade(36th Div) 27Sept1918: ..... moved to 'P', 'F' and 'X' Camps Area (Sheet 28.A.15 and 16).... Sheet 28.A.15 is just north of Poperinge. I could locate the camps on a trench map, but did not find BYNG SIDING regards Bart
Howard Posted 26 January , 2019 Share Posted 26 January , 2019 You will very likely find Byng Siding on this map. Cullonden Junction is there, I assume that is connected with Culloden Camp. Howard
