Remembered Today:

Could this be Captain D M Evans?

The same capt DM Evans was in Mesopotamia from 7/8/16 until after the end of the war ( Ancestry medal roll).

During 1915 the 56th Punjabis are noted as being in Egypt and Aden with 28th Brigade, so I understand your questionmark.

He comes up on the casualty lists for 1917 but I didn't see a 1915 entry.

I know that he is in a rifle regiment. i thought that the collar badge just might be the 56th's. Had someone sign in looking like D Evans so was hoping it might be Capt D M Evans MC.

The 1915 Army List has him as Lieut 55th Cokes Rifles.

Their Cap badge was like this but their collar badges may be different.

Best image of your photo collar badge I can get is this, showing a bi-metal badge I think.

They don't look the same. The only pictures I can see for 56th Punjabi Rifles seem to suggest a bugle badge but that wouldn't fit either. Await an expert.

The odd thing is that Captain Martin Gompertz from 108th Infantry Indian Army was convalescing at Polesden at the same time July-Nov 1915. I can't work out how he got here either!
