NorthStaffsPOW Posted 27 October , 2018 Share Posted 27 October , 2018 Hi all. Just wondering if someone could clarify something for me? I have a couple of South African groups but I am unsure of exactly what unit is referred to on the medals. First group is a 14/15 Star trio. On the Star it reads 1st S A Infantry. The other group is a BWM and VM with 1st and 2nd SAI on respectively. Does this refer to a brigade, regiment, division? I am unfamiliar with South African units. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
Admin RussT Posted 27 October , 2018 Admin Share Posted 27 October , 2018 I think it is all explained here: https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/army/regiments-and-corps/south-african-forces-british-army/ Russ
NorthStaffsPOW Posted 28 October , 2018 Author Share Posted 28 October , 2018 Thank you for the link Russ. So I am to take it that the units referred to on the medals refer to the 1st/ 2nd battalions of the 1st SA Brigade. I took another look at the Star and it just says 1st Infantry, which I take to mean the same thing. Thanks for your help.
