Westlake in 'British Regiments at Gallipoli' has 9th Service Battalion Sherwood Foresters 'Withdrew to reserve trenches (22nd) and formed composite battalion with 7th South Staffordshire'. His entry for 7th South Staffs also refers to the composite battalion and that they withdrew to reserve trenches at Lala Baba. Hope that helps.
