David_Underdown Posted 3 October , 2018 Share Posted 3 October , 2018 Today is the centenary of the VC action of Serjeant William Henry Johnson, 1/5th Sherwood Foresters, of Worksop. His VC memorial stone is being laid at Worksop War Memorial today, and as the only bellringer known to have won the VC there will also be peal attempts at Worksop Priory and St Anne's Church. There's an old forum thread here I've written a blog post about him for The National Archives' blog too https://blog.nationalarchives.gov.uk/blog/tommys-war-w-h-johnson-bellringer-vc/
