Jim Strawbridge Posted 23 September , 2018 Share Posted 23 September , 2018 Journalistic exageration. Agnes is not forgotten. She is commemorated by the Commonwealth War Grave Commission and her grave cared for in St. Omer by them. Her actual name was Climie not Climey. She was a staff nurse in the Territorial Force Nursing Service and, as pointed out in the article, was off duty at the time but was singing to a nervous patient to calm him during an enemy air raid. Unfortunately the hospital took a direct hit (September 1917). Her name is on a memorial in Queen's Park Baptist Church and on the Scottish Military Nursing Services memorial in St. Giles High Kirk, Edinburgh. . mbriscoe Posted 23 September , 2018 Author Share Posted 23 September , 2018 I think it is the story that they are wanting to ensure is not forgotten. The headline are often not written by the person who wrote the story. Surprised they did mention that it is the anniversary of her death next week. https://www.firstworldwarglasgow.co.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=25670&p=
