sapper5 Posted 14 August , 2018 Share Posted 14 August , 2018 I am currently researching the service of two brothers who served during the Great War. They are: Lieutenant Arthur Henry Leeves, Royal Engineers, who served in the 1st Field Company, East Lancashire Division Engineers (427th Field Company) and in the 42nd Division Signal Company, R.E. He served from July 1915 to July 1921. Lieutenant Frederick Horrocks Leeves, Arthur's brother, served in the 1/4th Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment, also in the 42nd (East Lancashire) Division. Frederick served from June 1915 to July 1920.

Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 15 August , 2018 Share Posted 15 August , 2018 Dear All, Super picture! Note that it should be reversed, however. The spectacles-case in his (top left) pocket gives it away... Kindest regards, Kim.

sapper5 Posted 15 August , 2018 Author Share Posted 15 August , 2018 Thanks to all for the responses. Mark 19159: I have the histories of the units in which both men served. Unfortunately there is no mention of them in the histories. I can write their stories if I assume that they were with the units in Egypt, Gallipoli and France during the time periods in which they served, but I would like to nail down their movements with a little more accuracy. May not be possible, I know. 18 hours ago, Mark1959 said: What information are you actually after? 1 hour ago, Terry_Reeves said: Some more information here: http://tinyurl.com/yb97k8c8 TR

sapper5 Posted 16 August , 2018 Author Share Posted 16 August , 2018 Well done, Keith! Thanks for picking up my error. I had East Lancshires on my mind when working with Arthur Henry Leeves' unit and went off the track. So Frederick served in the Pioneer Battalion (1/4th Bn, the South Lancs) in the 55th (West Lancashire) Division. They were not in the same division. That will produce some changes in my story.
