Remembered Today:

'Antiques Road Trip'

Did anyone see the episode of this series mid week on BBC2, when the military specialist Paul Laidlaw, had the good fortune to find

a finial top from the colours of a Austrian Regiment.  This was a shaped like a spear head, carried the eagle symbol and had been mounted post war on a nice

stand of turned oak.  He paid £15, and it understandably went for £100 at the subsequent auction, which I though was cheap given

it's significance.  It would have been a much sought after prize at the time of capture in the Great War.

Looked to be made of brass. I wondered if it was equivalent to the French eagles captured in previous wars.
