Hi,

Can anyone please help with the above?

I'm trying to find out more info. about my Great Uncle who was killed in action on 27/05/18 at the start of the third battle of Aisne. He Served with 'D' company 8th Battalion and I think he was near Cormicy at that time. My Grandfather was also in the area serving with the 9th Battalion.

Thanks

Hi Alfy37,

Welcome to the Forum.

The 8th Battalion diary is here at the National Archives, or here on Ancestry. The 110 Brigade HQ diary is here or here. The 21 Division HQ diary is here or here.

The general National Archives search page is here, and the Ancestry page here.

Regards

Chris

Leicester Record Office at Wigston also holds the war Diaries of the 9th Battalion, but you would have to visit, they are not on line,  but the catalogue is partly.

Hello Alfy37, there is a book called "The Tigers" 6th 7th 8th and 9th Battalions by Mathew Richardson. It gives an account of the battle you mention. Your Grandfather and Great Uncle may be mentioned in it. What are their names and I can let you know. Regards, Bob.
