Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 2 July , 2018 Share Posted 2 July , 2018 Remembered. I am interested in his surname Anneca. He was in the RIR, so an Ulsterman I assume. I can't see a 'Wallace' in the CWGC database though. Do you have his service number?
Anneca Posted 2 July , 2018 Author Share Posted 2 July , 2018 Yes, you are correct. The CWGC database has the wrong name for him. In their records he appears as Greer, William. On the inscription at Thiepval is Greer W. He was Rifleman Thomas Wallace Greer No. 12847 known as Wallace. His older brother James Greer in the Royal Engineers was also KIA on 23 August 1915. Regards, Anne
