Wallace Greer, age 22, KIA 2nd July 1916.  Remembered today, 102 years later.

Remembered.

I am interested in his surname Anneca.

He was in the RIR, so an Ulsterman I assume.

I can't see a 'Wallace' in the CWGC database though.  Do you have his service number?

Yes, you are correct.  The CWGC database has the wrong name for him.  In their records he appears as Greer, William.  On the inscription at Thiepval  is Greer W.  He was Rifleman Thomas Wallace Greer No. 12847 known as Wallace.  His older brother James Greer in the Royal Engineers was also KIA on 23 August 1915.
