Does anyone know a reputable operator that does tours of 5-7 days in the Autumn? Not available until about 9/9/18 but would like to fit one in after that. Not having much luck with Google search. Any recommendations gratefully received.

A real interest in the Great War but have never gone to see for myself.

What sort of tour are you after?  There are so many different types of tour operator/tour guide.  There are those that do customised/personalised small tours where you are taken around in a people carrier or 4x4.  There are small group tours by minibus.  There are some excellent specialist walking tour companies.  And there are coach tour companies.  What do you want to see? What do you want to learn about?  How big a group do you want to go with?

Thanks for replying.

I have no relative who's path I want to follow. Nor a particular battlefield I want to visit. Just wish to get a sense of trench warfare. So the experience of Tommy Atkins rather than the history behind a particular battle. A visit to one of the cemeteries or memorials. A visit to a trench system. So possibly Ypres and the Somme or probably both. A guide who really knows what he is talking about. All travel abroad sorted. Not worried about size of party but one suspects once you get above 10 or 12 it may get a bit like "if this is Tuesday it must be Belgium".

Vague, I know, so perhaps a minibus tour is about right

I recently helped guide a Leger All Quiet on the Western Front tour.

Have a look at the Leger five day battlefield tour.

I have been careful not to mention the firm I guide for, but will give details if you pm me.

I am one of a number of experienced guides based on the Somme. Feel free to message me to discuss your requirements.
