Remembered Today:

RFC Eaton

MyFather-in Law's MIC shows him as being in 4th Surrey Regiment, then MGC then RFC/RAF.

I have looked at his service record,he was injured in France, sent home in Dec 1916 due to return to his unit in March 1917. Th next entry is a Medical Board Report saying he had problems with his wound and was 'admitted to RFC Eaton on January 26th 1918 and has been under treatment since.'

I'm confused!!

Does anyone know anything about RFC Eaton?

Would he have a separate RFC/RAF record?

Sorry if these are very basic questions but I'm new to the military side of my family history!

This is only a part answer, but other Forum members will probably supply some other pieces to your puzzle.

There was an RAF Hospital in Eaton Square, London, in late 1918. In all probability, there was an RFC Hospital there before the RAF was created on 1 April.

I hope that this helps a little.

Thanks Gareth. This really does help. As you say it's another piece to the jigsaw. A large jigsaw in this case as some of the information is contradictory...however it all adds to the interest!
