Hello Jamee,

The hook Quilion was dropped from the design in 1913, and the clearance hole added after your bayonet was manufactured, so not a Quilion removed piece....the dates and list of changes I can't remember without digging files out, but info is on this forum somewhere.

The W on the scabbard was introduced in 1923 if my memory serves me correctly, stands for waxed, and would suggest it was manufactured after this date, or a refurbished piece.

I am sure others will comment further with the exact dates etc, but pictures will help confirm things...any other inspection dates on the blade?

Dave.

It's worth pointing out this only applies to British made 1907 Pattern bayonets. Australian manufacture continued to make them with the hook into 1915. So depending on where it was made in 1915 it could well be a dehooked example. See:

Some photos/further details would help.

Wont be a Lithgow 07 as he stated the date 9 '15 & Lithgow only applied the year at that time, only later did they apply the month/year format as used by the British

I took it the "end field" in the O.P. was a typo for an Enfield produced piece, but photos would have been more helpful,

Regards,

Dave.
