Remembered Today:

2/5th Bn, Lincolnshire Regt War Diary

Hi All,

I'm trying to find out what the 2/5th Bn, Lincolnshire Regt were dong on the  11th April 1917 when a relative was captured. I have managed to find the war diary on Ancestry but when I look at the original images there are pencil notes saying 2/4th and it talks about handing over trenches to the 2/5th.

I don't suppose anyone can help point me to the correct diary or do I need to contact ancestry about it?

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Max,

That's fantastic, thank you so much. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I have tried a few days running and just keep getting the same incorrect one.

Thanks again,

Michael

There is also a one page report by Lt Col H B Roffey of 2/5 Lincolns dated 11/04/1917 in the WD of 177 Infantry Brigade (WO 95/3022 p 48/584 on Ancestry).

EDIT: The action is also mentioned in Simpson's History of the Lincolnshire Regiment, read from p 211 in the book.

Sorry for the late reply Brian, I don't seem to be getting email notifications for some reason.

I'll have a look at both, thanks very much for the help.
