IPUN Posted 8 May , 2018 Share Posted 8 May , 2018 This day 100 years ago CPL William Clark succumbed to the effects of a gas attack at Gorre 1st May 1918 and passed away in hospital at Etaples, Pas de Calais. A gardener at the City Park Peterborough William was one of nine children of George & Lucy Ann Clark of 147 Wellington Street. All seven sons were in uniform at some point during the war; of the five that saw action, two were severely wounded and William became the last of three to die. He married Maud in June 1916 having enlisted in December 1915 possibly under the Derby Scheme and arrived in Flanders around the July of that year. It was my great pleasure to recognise his sacrifice today at Etaples. Rest In Peace
