Darwen Cemetery & New Memorial

The Friends of Darwen Cemetery will be unveiling a memorial that commemorate Darwen’s contribution to the war. The memorial  will be unveiled on 1st July. The Cemetery contains 70 Commonwealth War Graves (69 men & 1 woman). There are another 8 graves for military men who are not eligible for a war grave.

Just to let everyone know the War Memorial was unveiled yesterday (1st July) and was well attended. The BBC Look North West covered the event and the Friends of Darwen Cemetery has a number of images and videos of the event on their Facebook page at
