Sue L Posted 25 April , 2018 Share Posted 25 April , 2018 Hello all I am researching a man who enlisted in September 1914 into the Yorkshire Regiment and who was serving overseas by 1916. He then transferred to the RFC in August 1917 I cant find an Army medal index card for him Can anyone help me find out if there would be an Air Force Medal record? Thanks Sue L

David_Underdown Posted 26 April , 2018 Share Posted 26 April , 2018 He should have an RAF service record in AIR 79 (also available on FindMyPast). The RAF don't seem to have used index cards in the same way as the army (they were not as large of course). The RAF record may have his oirginal army attestation papers annexed to it as well, otherwise it will just be a fairly brief two page summary affair. Thanks Sue L If he was entitled to a 1914-15 Star that would have been issued through the army so there should be a MIC. The BWM and Victory Medal would have been issued through the RAF and would appear in the RAF record. RM

David_Underdown Posted 9 May , 2018 Share Posted 9 May , 2018 It's usually noted toward the bottom right of the second page from memory.
