michaeldr Posted 21 April , 2018 Share Posted 21 April , 2018 Çamlitekke This was where the headquarters of the Anafartalar Group Command was first established by Lt-Col Willmer and, incidentally, where Mustafa Kemal presented his damaged watch to LvS. MK describes “I could find the Headquarters of Anafartalar Group somewhere 1.5km south of Gümbürdek Bayir” While a modern Turkish guide book gives “The headquarters can be accessed through the trail going left from the region of pine trees 2km after crossing Kumköy road on the eastern exit of Southern Anafarta” As far as I can see, these do not seem to agree with the map from the British OH Can anyone clarify this for me and has anyone ever come across the use of an 'English' name for this place? michaeldr Posted 21 April , 2018 Author Share Posted 21 April , 2018 (edited) OK, I think that I've now found what I was looking for with the help of a map from Erickson's 'Gallipoli, The Ottoman Campaign' [ISBN 978 1 84415 967 3] EDIT to add caveat - Please ignore the dispositions, as the two maps represent different stages of the campaign Edited 21 April , 2018 by michaeldr
