Dear charlie2,

Thanks for that interesting information.

Fortunately I have, together with the EKI, and EKII and Zähringer Löwe group of medals to my wife's maternal grandfather (Ltn. d. R. Rudolf Schneider), his signed and annotated copy of "Reserve-Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr. 66", von Wilhelm Groos (1922)5ace3d5a57273_LtnSchneider.jpg.7dd81b605c1e01f466b879e97c275880.jpg. Ltn Schneider is even shown in one of the small Officer Group photos. The book also has a useful chart, indicating the numbers of various decorations won by members of the Regt.

The trouble is, despite my ability to speak and read German, I find the Fraktur-Schrift hellishly difficult to decipher - which takes all the fun (if one can use that word about a work dealing with the Great War) out of it.

Kindest regards,

Kim.

171,

Wow - Great news, I have seen the original history for IR171 pop up on an on-line site. the required sum of 200 Euro is still beyond my purse.

Things will come to those who wait !!

I can't find the placeholder link though !!

Should I start considering to bring my library to the recycling park?

Nothing beats a fast look into a real paper book whenever I need some information though...

NO WAY ---

I agree the book is by far the best - But they are very difficult to find - and those which do turn up are very expensive.

Also I have seen that several maps are missing from  this online version from the back section, No Skzzie 21 etc.

Nowadays a lot of them have become scarce although some are easy to find.

Oh yes, the maps are often missing in the books. I also have to ask sometimes a fellow collector whether he has the maps.
