Guest sk125 Posted 5 January , 2005 Share Posted 5 January , 2005 Hi Guys I am reasearching my grandfather - he enlisted as a private in the London Rifle Bridgage in 1915 and was commissioned into the RNVR in February 1917. He was still in the LRB in July 1916. We know he went to HMS Exellent which I gather is a shore training establishment for gunnery training. He then went to the RNAS for air observer/gunnery training but wasn't upto flying so saw the rest of the war out on destroyers. I am unsure of the reasons why he remustered from the LRB to the RNVR at that time, and also how long and where would his officer training have occured. Any thoughts appreciated.
