Matthew King Posted 5 January , 2005 Share Posted 5 January , 2005 Dear Pals I was having trouble identifing a Belgium medal my Grandfather was awarded after the First World War and was hoping someone on the forum could help. Below is a photo of the medal. is it a campaign medal? Did this medal have the palm leaf attached? The medal to the right is the Belgium Croix De Guerre, could the palm leaf been put back on the wrong medal? Thanks for any help Matt
bkristof Posted 5 January , 2005 Share Posted 5 January , 2005 The one in the center is the military medal (art.4). For bravoury or special actions. Can i see a close up of the palm? It must be silver with an A on it. The backside of the medal must be like the attached picture. Isn't the medal on the left a german one??? Matthew King Posted 5 January , 2005 Author Share Posted 5 January , 2005 Yes that is the back of the medal, excellent, I heard he got the Military Medal but I just could find any image of it to compare it to. Here is a close up of the leaf, looks like the same A that is on the back of the medal. Here is is the Croix de Guerre which has a similar A on the back of it as well. The Medal on the left isn't a German one (I hope), it is for long service in the Special Constabulary. Thanks for you help Matt
