Guest TheBigGuy Posted 3 January , 2005 Share Posted 3 January , 2005 hello, I'm hoping someone can help me. We found a WW1 doughboy uniform in our attic and was wondering what the value might be on this uniform. It is totally complete from head to toe. Including the gas mask and holder. Any help would be apreciated. Here is a picture of it.

Guest shenkursk Posted 4 January , 2005 Share Posted 4 January , 2005 For some reason, cotton US M1912 uniforms have much less collector value than wool uniforms. Most all US WWI uniforms have prices based largely on the shoulder sleeve insignia which this one does not appear to have, so the uniform itself actually has not too much value: a slow sale at $60-75 assuming the collar discs are not exciting. Numbered discs to a desirable unit would alter that considerably. M1910 pack $45-75 depending on markings and condition Helmet $30 (no liner) to $100... or $120-150 if a British helmet with nice liner Gas Mask: $35-$50 in normal condition / $95-125 if soft and pliable Issue shirt: $35-$45 if in nice shape (these are slow to sell) Mess kit is not WWI issue - looks like a later Boy Scout kit from the photo (toss it aside and the value of the group remains the same... or leave it with the group and deduct $5 from the overall price!) Now the shoes... that is a horse of a different color. Can't tell much from the photo, but WWI US issue shoes will sell for $250-300 for a low-end example to as much as $500+ for a nice pair with leather in good shape, proper markings, and all hobnails intact. Hope this helps! Jeff
