JakeJ Posted 22 February , 2018 Share Posted 22 February , 2018 Next week I've got a blissful four days and three nights in France/Belguim, with nothing yet booked apart from a ferry to/from Calais with a space for the car and my walking boots. I've done a few trips to sites around Ypres in the past, mostly graveyards, memorials and preserved trenches, but this time I'm looking for something a little more off the beaten track and as much untouched/abandoned/overgrown trench action as possible. Does anyone have any recommendations for some interesting spots to check out? Entirely flexible on location and fully mobile during the four days. Thanks in advance! trenchtrotter Posted 24 February , 2018 Share Posted 24 February , 2018 Well if your asking for off the beaten track your only gonna get the beaten track. If that’s what you want you have to find it for yourself?
JakeJ Posted 7 March , 2018 Author Share Posted 7 March , 2018 Trenchtrotter, you were spot on! Just back from a wonderful few days on the Somme and I thought of your words of wisdom as I was traipsing through the mud. Returned home filthy with aching legs and a hugely renewed sense of gratefulness that I wasn't born a hundred years earlier.
