Hi all,

Yesterday whilst visiting my parents north of Sydney I came across several great war vets gravestones. If anyone would like photos please contact me. There were around 5 gracves which were very well maintained.

There are two WW1 war graves and one WW2 war grave in Jilliby Cemetery. You can get these names off the CWGC site.

However, that will not give you any other veterans outside the war periods.

Robbie,

Would you by any chance be in the vacinity of:

New South Wales - Rookwood Necropolis, Sydney

I have one South African Grave in this cemetery which needs photographing.

If this is in any way practical for you to do please email through the forum.

Thanks Terry. Had already done that, but was curious to know if the names of Robbie's 5 differed with those 3 the CWGC mentioned.

Those cemetery reports are a very helpful function.

Andrew

Hi Robbie

Would like a a copy of them if it's no trouble. From the names you gave me I had a look on the nominal roll.

6433 - Pte Henry Edward Sheldon - 19th Battalion - Enlisted 18/05/16 - Returned to Australia 25/06/17.

Sheldon was a railway employee from Kogarah West NSW

1803 - Pte Alfred Charles Ferrier - 35th Battalion - Enlisted 29/03/16 - Returned to Australia 23/05/19

Ferrier was a shearer from Lockhart NSW

4983 - Pte Harold Ernest Bentley - 33rd Battalion - Enlisted 07/02/16 - Returned to Australia 20/10/18.

Bentley was from Dubbo NSW

Cheers

Andrew

Hi Roop,

Rookwood Cemetery is HUGE and is in the Western suburbs of Sydney. Am in Wellington, NZ now for work over the next few days and then 2 nights in sydney and back home via Capetwon. Any you'd like from the latter? am spending 3 nights in Capetwon.
