Employed Mens Parade

Mentioned on an infantryman's conduct sheet is the following :

"Absent from Employed mens parade"

You see absent from parade all the time, but I am curious to know what an Employed Mens parade was.

Often see how Battalions are split up on varying duties and not always in a compact way. Could it be that this is a device for carrying out a roll call ? Those "unemployed" have one parade and then the others,"employed", who may return later have theirs. Just a theory, don't really know !

Yes, sounds probable.

This incident was actually during training in England, so perhaps one company was 'employed' clearing up the camp ready to move on and the other companies had no specific duties?
